CANDLES/OPEN FLAMES
Lighted candles/open flames are not permitted in offices, classrooms, dorm rooms, etc. due to the obvious fire potential. Decorative candles should have their wicks clipped or capped to discourage lighting.
Lighted candles are permitted to be used only inside dining areas if they meet the following criteria:
- Candles shall be securely supported on tables.
- Candles shall have a substantial noncombustible base.
- Candle use shall be approved through the Office of Environmental Health and Safety.
- Flame must be shielded.
